Mayor Endicott Extends Deadline for 2020 'If I Were Mayor, I Would..." Student Content Entries

Post Date:04/10/2020
Redmond students from fourth to twelfth grade, including students who are home schooled, are encouraged to enter the 2020 "If I Were Mayor, I Would…" student contest sponsored by the Oregon Mayors Association (OMA).

Students must submit their original work with a completed entry form to Ramona Sorensen at Redmond City Hall, 411 SW 9th St., Redmond, OR 97756 by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020. The contest rules and entry form are available at City Hall and online.

Mayor George Endicott will select one winner in each category: Elementary School Poster, Middle School Essay or Video and High School Video or PowerPoint presentation. The local winner in each category will be awarded a $100 and recognized at a City Council meeting.

“Judging the contest entries is something I look forward to every year and am continually amazed by the creative ideas and insightful perspectives our students have for the future of our community,” remarks Mayor George Endicott.

Each winner from Redmond will be entered into the statewide contest, where three students will receive laptop computers from the OMA and Oregon ASK. Statewide winners will be notified (along with their Mayor) in mid-July.
